YouTube Recipe Extractor
Paste a YouTube cooking video and get the recipe written out. Ingredients with amounts and numbered steps, taken from the description when it has them and transcribed from the video when it does not.
How to get a recipe from a YouTube video
- Copy the video link - Use the address bar or the Share button. Full links and youtu.be short links both work, Shorts included.
- Paste it in - Drop the link into the box above and press Extract.
- Read the recipe - You get ingredients and steps as a recipe card, without scrubbing back through the video.
No more scrubbing back to catch an amount
Long cooking videos bury the quantities in the narration. Recipe Extractor reads the description first, and when the recipe is not written there it transcribes the video and reads the on-screen text to recover the amounts.
What you get back
- Ingredients with amounts, ready for a shopping list.
- Numbered steps in cooking order.
- Servings and timings where the video states them.
- An editable recipe, so a misheard amount takes seconds to correct.
Questions
Does it work on YouTube Shorts?
Yes. Shorts are handled the same way as normal videos.
What about very long videos?
Long videos take longer to read, and extremely long ones may not be processed. A standard recipe video is fine.
Does it use the description or the video?
The description first, because it is faster and usually exact. The video is only watched when the description does not hold the recipe.
Do I need an account?
No. Extraction is free and does not require signing in.
